This is Aussie. It is his first day at school and just as any child would be, he is filled with excitement!

Each of the students were asked to write their names on the chalkboard and introduce themselves. It was Aussie's turn to go up to the board.

Aussie

Aussie described his favorite video game in detail and his love for playing outside with his dog. After Aussie finished his speech, his eyes wandered to the audience to see their excitement.

Except, when he looked up, the children weren't smiling like they had for the kids before him. Rather, they looked confused and scared. However, Aussie couldn't tell they didn't enjoy his speech.

The recess bell rang and the students rushed through the door. Aussie followed, annoyed by the sound of the loud bell.

Children ran and played around Aussie but no one had asked him to join in. He sat down, focused on the wood chips that surrounded the playground.

Aussie arrived home and was greeted by his parents who flooded him with questions.

"How was your first day, Aussie?" questioned his father.

Aussie rambled on about school and all the different things he saw. However, when his parents asked if he made any new friends, he said nothing.

Aussie went to his room to play by himself and to get his things ready for his next big day at school.

"Do you think Aussie's classmates understand he's different?" questioned Aussie's mother.

"Aussie will be just fine" exclaimed the father.

The next day, the class was assigned a group project. Aussie was paired with Ken and Melissa. They were instructed to create a poster about some of the classroom rules.

Aussie was in charge of picking which rule to demonstrate. Conflicted by his choices, he sat frustrated and continued talking to himself to help him through his tough decision.
