The integumentary system is important because hair keeps us warm, the skin protects our muscles/ bones and nails help us dig.

This is Dr. Kelly.
Dr. Kelly is a dermatologist. A dermatologist is a doctor who focuses on hair, nails, and the skin.

She gets patients everyday telling her their problems.
Here is one of her patients named Joe.



Joe say his hair is so oily that the US is trying to invade it.
Dr. Kelly explains to Joe that his sebaceous glands are working too much in his hair/skin.
-The sebaceous glands create a lubricating oily matter to lubricate the hair follicles and skin. (Greasy hair is often felt)
-Hair are the numerous fine, usually cylindrical, keratin filaments growing from the skin of humans and animals





Next is Dr. Kelly's patient, Ashlynn.
Ashlynn has very weak nails and complains to the doctor that her nails are weaker than before.


Dr. Kelly explains how the nail is made out of living cells and how the nail consist of several parts.
She tells Ashlynn to eat lots a certain vitamin (B7) to help grow them and tells her that her digestive system will help do the trick.
