Abolition is the movement to end slavery. Abraham Lincoln is on the five dollar bill because he wanted to end slavery.




is for Bill of Rights
The first ten amendments to the US Constitution, ratified in 1791. Gave rights such as the freedoms of speech, assembly, and worship which we still have today.



is for Central Treaty Organization (CENTO)

Originally known as the Baghdad Pact or the Middle East Treaty Organization (METO), was formed in 1955 by Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey and the United Kingdom. The purpose was to stop the spread of communism. Stopped in 1979.

is for Deficit Spending


Government spending, in excess of revenue, of funds raised by borrowing rather than from taxation. Deficit Spending is higher now growing by the billions.

is for Edo

Now modern day Tokyo
It's the former name of Tokyo. Edo means "bay-entrance" or "estuary". It was the seat of power for the Tokugawa shogunate, which ruled Japan from 1603 to 1868


is for Forbidden City

The former Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty 1420 to 1912, it now houses the Palace Museum.

is for God, Glory, and Gold

To acquire riches for themselves and the country they represent. To bring power and prestige to Spain. To convert the native people to Christianity.


is for Historian

An expert in or student of history, especially that of a particular period, geographical region, or social phenomenon. Historians try to find clues and study on how previous civilizations have lived.

is for Industrial Revolution

A period of major industrialization that took place during the late 1700s and early 1800s. The industrial revolution has increased the production of products.


is for Jester

A professional joker at a medieval court, typically wearing a cap with bells on it and carrying a mock scepter. In the medival times it was for royalty now its more of a joke.


is for Knight

A citizen of the second class in Athens. A man who served his sovereign or lord as a mounted soldier in armor. Now knights are only known in the UK.


is for Legalism

Dependence on moral law rather than on personal religious faith. The U.S's government is like this unlike other counties in the middle east and Asia.


is for Magna Carta

A charter of liberties to which the English barons forced King John to give his assent in June 1215 at Runnymede. Gave the rights back to the people.


is for NAFTA

North American Free Trade Agreement. An agreement among the United States, Canada and Mexico designed to remove tariff barriers between the three countries. It's still going on today.

is for Oceania

Originally conceived as the lands of the Pacific Ocean, stretching from the Strait of Malacca to the coast of the Americas. Modernly known now as Australia.

is for Papyrus

a material prepared in ancient Egypt from the pithy stem of a water plant, used in sheets throughout the ancient Mediterranean world for writing or painting on and also for making rope, sandals, and boats. Not as frequently used.
