Dogs are very loving and friendly animals, often called "man's best friend". Dogs basically, come from the 'wolf' species. There are many breeds of dogs. Puppies are very cute. They have a nice, soft and fluffy coat, which keeps them warm. Now, remember a point : never allow any puppy who is not vaccinated to lick you, even if it might be a pet dog. Dogs who are not vaccinated can cause rabies. So stay away from those dogs. Do not allow your pet dog to mix with other stray dogs, because stray dogs are dirty and can cause severe diseases. Choose your particular breed according to your stamina and physical endurance.

It is advisable to buy a dog from a breeder, rather than a pet store. The breeder's dogs have 90% chances of being healthy, whereas the pet store's dogs have only 20% chances of being healthy. If you want a healthy dog, please remember my suggestion. Take your dog to the veterinarian very often. The veterinarian knows best for your dog, after you. She/he gives the dog vaccination, which prevent harmful diseases from occurring. But you should take your dog often for fun car rides, else it will think that getting into the car means going to the vet. Then that will cause you frustration.

Training your dog for the future is very important. You need to train your dog like not to jump on visitors, but to greet them politely. Train your dog to be friendly with humans, and their own species too. Dogs have the sixth sense, so they might bark at bad people. Train your dog to be confident, but he shouldn't be the one to rule on you. He shouldn't be too frail also. It should be medium. Your dog should listen to what you say. There should be some type of communication between your dog and you. If your dog picks something from the road, when you say 'leave', he should leave it. If you ask him to 'fetch', he should fetch it.
