Deep in the jungle where the monkeys howl, critters 

crawl, snakes slither, and the rain drip-drops...drip-

drops...drip-drops...

    A monstrous sound erupted!

Soon, the monstrous sound got louder and louder!

The monstrous sound came closer and closer!     

The monkeys stopped howling. The critters crawled into 

their hiding places. The snakes slithered to the tops of 

trees to have a look. The rain just dripped-drop, 

dripped-drop, dripped-drop...  

Then the monstrous sound stopped. 

Soon, the monkeys began to howl again.

The critters crawled out from their hiding places.

The snakes slithered down the tree trunks and on to the 

jungle floor. 

And the rain just dripped drop, dripped drop, dripped-

drop...

For days the monstrous sound sat silently in the jungle. 

The monkeys howled on it. The critters crawled on it. 

The snakes slithered on it, and the rain dripped-drop, 

dripped-drop, dripped-drop.

Suddenly, wise old parrot sounded the warning cry. 

Something was not right in the jungle. 

"The trees are falling!   The trees are falling!" parrot cried 

from the canopy. 

"Where? Where? Where are the trees falling?" howled the 

monkeys. 

"No time! No time! Run, monkeys! Crawl, critters! Slither, 

snakes!" called out wise old parrot as he flew away from the 

falling trees. 

As they ran and crawled and slithered, the monstrous sound 

erupted from the jungle. 

They ran and crawled and slithered deep into a part of 

the jungle they did not know. 

"Is it sssssssafe?" hissed a snake as he stopped to look 

and listen. 

"Well, the trees are not falling any more," said the 

monkeys. 

Soon the rain began to fall and this new part of the 

forest seemed a little bit more like home.
