In the town of Pigglywiggly every
piglet was excited because today
was the first day of school.

Today was Polly's first day of kindergarten.
Polly is eager to get to school, to meet other
pigs, and to take eat his first snack with his
whole class. Polly ran all the way to school.

Miss Piggy Elementary School
Polly approached the school.
"Wow," Polly said," This is a big school with
a lot of big kids."

Polly found her class and sat down with all her
classmates. They all looked the same. And her
teacher, Mrs. Hog, looked like them too. But
Polly couldn't put her hoof on what made her
look different than them?

During storytime one of the pigs
whispered to Polly. His name was Pete.
"You look funny," Pete hissed to Polly
as his friends laughed. "Your spots are
weird and ugly."
Polly was crushed. She never had a
problem with her spots before. She
thought they were pretty.

"I think my spots are pretty," Polly said.
"Yeah, pretty weird," Pete retorted.
Polly's spirits fell. This was not a good first
day of school.

Polly waited in line for her snack patiently. She
was very hungry and hoped that there would
still be crackers left when it was her turn.

Pete and his friends had been waiting behind
Polly. Suddenly, they budged her in line.
"Hey!" Polly exclaimed. "You guys have to wait
your turn!"
"Pigs with ugly spots go to the back of the
line," Pete said as he took the last of the
crackers.
"I think that my spots are pretty," Polly said.
But she didn't sound as sure anymore.

Near the end of school Pete was chanting,
"Polly has weird spots! Polly has weird spots!"
Polly was no longer hurt by this. She was just
plain mad.

"STOP IT!" Polly yelled. Pete immediately
became quiet.
"Why are you teasing me? Because I'm
different than you? Well I like being me and I
would rather be me than you because you are
mean. My spots are what make me original
and my spots are pretty."

All the pigs were quiet.
"I'm sorry," Pete said."I was jealous of
how you were different than all of us and
I didn't want you to think you were
special. I am ashamed about how I acted
because I was wrong. You are special. We
are all special. No matter what we look
like we are all pigs."
