MODULE 10

AUGMENTED REALITY, WHAT IS IT?
Much like virtual reality, augmented uses digital elements to add to the world around us but it does not shut out the physical world like VR does. Augmented reality is made possible by using a camera lens that can insert images into the picture it is capturing.
AUGMENTED REALITY, IN THE CLASSROOM

-Scavenger hunt around their classroom or school
-Field trips
-Google Expeditions
-Student lead creations
Quiver:
Allows students to color an image, take a picture of it, then lets the creations comes to life in a 3D effect. Students love it but it does take some time to learn all the features and you must model to younger students how to use it before letting them work independently with it.
Layar:
This app allows students to scan an image or landscape and then transforms the flat image into augmented reality. This is great for students making a map of their classroom to learn certain cardinal and intermediate directions.
Anatomy 4D:
Allows students to print images of the human body, then scan the image to allow parts of the body appear in 3D. This is great for really opening students eyes to things that are otherwise impossible to see in a classroom.
Blippar:
This app allows students to interact with content related to different topics. Students can scan an imagine in space and highlight or hover over key phrases and text to experience a more in depth look. Great for struggling readers who are no excited about reading.
Math Alive:
Great app for math teachers as it allows students to scan cards that help them practice fact fluency. This really gets students excited to study facts as well as tracks data on progress they are making.
