A long time ago Native American tribes were the only ones who lived in Oklahoma.
That all changed when a man named Fransisco Coronado arrived in 1541. All he wanted was gold and he was mean to the Native Americans.
Coronado didn't find gold so he turned and went back home.
bye!
Another man named Robert de La Salle. La Salle was nice, unlike Coronado. He claimed the land for the French and put trading posts along the rivers.
In 1803 the U.S. bought the Louisiana Purchase from the French for $15 million.
Pike, Wilkinson, and Sparks were sent by the president to explore the new land.
In 1819 the U.S. became part of the Arkansas Territory. Later on in 1830 the Indian Removal act was passed which made Indian tribes move westward.

In 1890 Oklahoma was split into 2 territories But then Congress reunited Oklahoma into one single state and everyone lived happily ever after.
