Once upon a time there was a penguin named Pete. Now Pete was not like the other penguins. He looked different, and did not like the icy water that all his friends swam in. He always stood out and never fit in.

He talked to his dad about how he felt and his dad replied, "Well, son, I have a secret to tell you. You and I are not from around here. We are different than other penguins and that's good. Where we're from, not one penguin is the same. Do you want to see?" Pete thought for a while and said with confidence, "Yes!"

Pete was excited to start on this adventure with his dad. He told his friends that he was going away. They all said goodbye and gave him a present. A red hat! He made sure to wear his new hat on his journey.

On the first day of his journey with his dad, he saw a reindeer, and the reindeer said, "Ho, ho, ho, you are a long way from home Mr. Penguin and little penguin. What are you doing out here?" Pete answered, "Hi! My name is Pete, and we are on a journey." The reindeer said, "Good luck Pete!" and trotted away.

One the second day Pete found a snowman, but something was different about him. He had an old brown hat on. Pete felt bad for the snowman but he didn't know what to do. As he looked at the snowman, an idea came to his mind.

"I'll give him my hat! It made me happy I'm sure it will make him happy too!" said Pete with joy. "You're right, he will look happy in a bright red hat." said Pete's dad. Pete placed his hat on top of the snowman's head.
