The Smith family was going through a very hard time in February. They had just lost, a mother, grandmother, friend and caretaker.

The youngest of the family, Firdaws was having an especially hard time. He was worried because he thought she was suffering, wherever she went.

He would cry himself to sleep, every night, in fear of what would happen the next time a family member died, or when he died. He really needed some guidance.

His mom decided to tell him what really happens to Buddhists when they die. She told him they are transmigrated and live many lives, before reaching something called nirvana.

"What's Transmigration?" he asked. " That means Grandma has lived many lives, and will continue to live many lives. She may have been someone else's grandmother in another life".

"She could have been another little boy's grandma?" "Yes, she could have been anyone, and lived anywhere. In another life she could have lived in France, or Jamaica, or even Japan!".

When Firdaw's mother told him this he was immediately less scared about losing his grandmother. He felt that she was somewhere else safe, and being loved, and he was right.

"So we know grandma is somewhere safe". Firdaw speaks calmly. "Yes Grandma Is safe. Especially if she has reached nirvana".
