“Ava, Ava, wake up it is time to go to school!”

       I was trying my best to wake her up but she was really tired from our adventure yesterday. We had to do some research for a school project but couldn’t find any information online. That was a problem and I only knew a couple facts, I knew that the tundra was the coldest, driest biome and I also knew that it never rains or even snows! My grandparents have told me that there are 2 distinct seasons, a long cold winter and cool short summers, they know that because they live there. The tundra is as cold as an ice cube!

I had called Claire and Tyler to see if they could find anything, but right when they picked up they asked, “ Can “you”find anything on the Tundra?” They had been doing the same thing as I  had and couldn’t find anything. Ava kept tapping my shoulder trying to get my attention.“Yes?” I told her so she would stop. “ What if we could just go visit Grandma and Grandpa for the day? We could bring Claire and Tyler and while we are there we could also do some research!”  I explained to Claire and Tyler what Ava’s amazing plan was and got plane tickets for Sunday.

My grandparents drove us back to their house and right when we got there all of us put on our warmest clothes. “ You guys are going to freeze your little heads of if you don’t put anything warm on.” My grandpa joked. The average temperature there has been -18 degrees! We rushed outside, but when we got out we got hit by a cold blast of wind. “ Okay guys we need to stay on task.”  Claire told us seriously. I heard a loud “crunch” as she got hit by a snowball. “ Tyler, I am serious, ok?” A frown formed on his face. “OK.” He sighed.

We started walking around gathering information. “Wow there really is not that much biodiversity!” I exclaimed excited that we at least had SOME facts for our project.“ It is very beautiful here. “It is a winter wonderland.” Claire said amazed by what was around her. We started to walk a little farther. “I think we have learned enough for now, plus I am pretty hungry. Maybe we can come out later tonight.”  I said feeling really cold. “ Ummmm, guys? Do you remember which way we came?” Tyler asked worriedly. “ Let’s see. Um I think that way but I don't know for sure.” I replied feeling a little worried now too. We started walking the way that I pointed, but after a while we realized that we went the wrong way and that we were lost. “ I think we should keep walking until we find a house. If we find someone we could ask them for a ride.”  I said trying to not get anyone nervous.
