Most of the Saxons were farmers that had fields and animals, they still ran low on food for the animals and forced to slaughtered. The higher class Saxon's life was still hard and had to do what they could to survive ("Life in Anglo Saxon England").

The Anglo Saxon's lived in small wooden huts, and they had thatched roofs on top. Everyone had to sleep in the same room of the hut. They had to either sleep on the ground or on wooden planks. Poor families slept with animals, so body heat would keep them warm. The huts didn’t have windows, the toilets were pits dug into the ground outside the huts ("Life in Anglo Saxon England").

The Saxons were originally from north Germany, Denmark, etc they finally decided to leave their homes and head for Britain. The Saxons settled in areas of Essex & Susex ("Where Did The Anglo-Saxons Come From?.")

What they ate and drank
They ate wheat, barely and rye and used it to make bread. Cows were used for milk and beef. Sheep were used for lamb, mutton and ewes milk. Goats were used for meat and milk. Pigs were used for meat. Chicken were used for meat and eggs. Milk was used to make cheese and butter. Most people think they ate horses but they actually had laws that forbid it. Deer, wild boar, and
wild birds were also eaten. They ate fish, mussels, and oysters. They ate peas, beans, parsnips, turnips, leeks, onions, cabbage, lettuce, white carrots, and garlic. They ate wild nuts and fruits such as hazelnuts and strawberries. They didn't have sugar so they used honey to sweeten stuff instead. They drank mead which was an alcoholic drink made from honey.
