One day Jada and her dad were on their way to visit Grandma at her new place. Jada could not wait to see her Grandma. It had been a few weeks since Grandma had moved to her new home. The last time Jada had seen Grandma she was not feeling well and fell down and had to ride in an ambulance to the hospital.

Jada then had asked her mommy where was Grandma's new home. Mommy had explained that Grandma"s new home was called a Skilled Nursing Home. Mommy told Jada that it had so many nice people there that were going to help Grandma and that she would be able to make new friends.

Jada didn't know what a skilled nursing home was and didn't understand why Grandma had to go there. Then Jada asked her daddy, "what happened to Grandma and why did she have to go there"? Jada's dad was a little sad and was trying to decide on what was the best way to explain to Jada what a skilled nursing home was and why Grandma was there.

"Well Jada, a skilled nursing home is a place where people go when they still need help after they get out of a hospital," said her dad. They provide 24 hour care to people who need things like rehabilitation after having a serious health problem or accident. And when Grandma fell down at our house she suffered a stroke and that is why she had to go to the hospital", said Jada's dad.

"What is a stroke", Jada asked? "Well, a stroke is when you have some bleeding inside or outside of your brain and it cuts of oxygen to certain parts of your body and that can cause some damage", said Jada's mom. Then mom said, "Grandma had what they call an Ischemic Stroke, and that has caused her to have a hard time talking and moving the left side of her body".

"The skilled nursing home is going to help her be able to talk and walk again by giving her rehabilitative therapy and speech therapy", her mother added. Then Jada said, "then Grandma will be able to come home". "Yes" her mother replied.

When Jada and her mom got to the skilled nursing facility. They went to see her Grandma's new room. It was nice, she had a t.v., her own bathroom and a window
