Grandpa Loggains is very sick" said Vickey to her daughter Tammy. "He has been sick for a long time and now it is time for us to help Grandpa" added Tammy's mother. "But we have been helping him mommy" said Tammy. "I know darling, but Grandpa needs more help than what we can give him," said Vickey.

"We are going to bring him home from the hospital and then we are going to set up a hospital bed at home for him and we will have nurses, and his doctor come to the house and visit and help take care of Grandpa" Vickey explained.

"You see Tammy, Grandpa has cancer and sometimes people who have cancer don't get better and when they get sicker, family members have to start preparing to help say goodbye to them". "So we are going to bring Grandpa home and have Hospice come to the house and help us take care of him and help up us learn to say goodbye", sighed Tammy's mother.

"What is Hospice?" asked Tammy. Vickey started to explain to her daughter that Hospice is a healthcare company that helps people who have a terminal illness and need help to relieve their pain and they bring in nurses who give medications to Grandpa and then they teach us how to make him comfortable and how to take care of him and what changes he will go through as time goes by.

"Oh, so you mean that Grandpa is going to die?", asked Tammy. "Yes", said her mother, "and Hospice is going to come and help us and Grandpa learn how to handle it and what to expect". "We will have a hospital bed in the house that will help Grandpa sit up to watch t.v. when he wants, the nurses will show us how to feed him if he has a hard time trying to eat and the nurses will show us how to help him go to the bathroom when needed". Tammy wasn't sure about all the help that he was going to need but she did like that her mother was trying to explain what was going to happen.
