What is overfishing?
Overfishing is the removal of several species of fish from their habitat at extremely high rates for fishes to replace themselves.

Causes of Overfishing
-Consumer demands is way too high, so there is a dependency for fish. It also triggers fisheries to catch more fish.
-There is a poor management inside the fisheries.
-Illegal fishing: makes about 20% of the world catch .
-Fisheries have an open access, since only 1.5% of all body waters are protected. This means they have an easy access and lack motives to leave fish in the ocean.

The effects of Overfishing
-It can impact harshly the ecosystem, since the size of fish remaining can severely decrease. Also, it affects the speed at which fishes reproduces.
-There is an imbalance in the marine food chain, which can decrease the population of other marine life like turtles.
-If overfishing continues, there will be a point that the population of fish will cease. Then, fisheries will collapse and people will lose their jobs.
-Pollution and damage in coral reefs.
-Billions of unnecessary fish loss

-The changes in sea temperature has caused hazardous microbes, bacteria, and toxic algae in warm areas of the sea. This eventually causes poisoned fish and other animals.
-Since poor countries depend on fish as a source of protein, fisheries do overfishing to meet this demand. At the end, the poor people can get sick due to the poisoned fishes.
