"I suppose that is fine, but you should be wary,
for this pond is a responsibility I carry.
If you harm my creatures, my water, my fishes;
the consequences will leave you in stitches."
"Only a few, you say?" asked the Whale.
"Yes! Only a few out of this popular vale!"
"I understand," said the Fisher, backing away,
and he returned to his town the very next day.

But his town wasn't so understanding, you see.
They cried, "We need more fish, for you and for me!"
"Even Fat Sammy has gone bone thin.
We need to get out of the hunger we're in!"

The Whale was angry, and said in return,
"You silly fishers never will learn!
I tell you, there's consequences
for the things you do!
If you keep fishing,
you'll starve, and
my pond will too!"

"Fish if you want,
but it'll only get worse,
for with your antics comes a terrible curse."
As the Whale sailed away, the Fisher could swear,
the creature had shrunk, if by only a hair.
He felt pretty bad for the Whale, people say,
but he came back to the pond the very next day.
The Whale gave a sigh,
and looked down at
his flippers.
He almost didn't know
what to say to
the Fisher.
