Knights
As a boy, you learned how to be a knight at around age seven. At around age 14, a boy would become a squire, the squire took care of the armor, weapons, and warhorses. Then at the age 21 if you were a squire you would become a full-fledged knight.

Vikings
Vikings were smart creative artistic democratic people. They were farmers, builders, traders, explorers. They were tough fierce and creative. They dominated parts of Europe for over 600 years from 400 AD to about 1070 AD.

Cathedrals
A Cathedral is a very large and very fancy church. Cathedrals were usually built in the shape of a cross with very high ceilings. Some cathedrals had as many as 100 stone statues, plus magnificent stain glass windows. A cathedral in the middle ages was the center of life in the town.

The Plague
In late 1347, the black death killed approximately 30 to 45 percent of the European population. People in the middle ages tried several different methods to combat the disease but they didn’t help. The black death is a bacterial disease, and this bacteria can cause three different types of plague: bubonic plague, pneumonic plague, and septicemic plague. Bubonic plague was the most common and killed its victim within a week.

Castles
The first castles were made of mud and wood. They started building castles with stone instead of wood because wood burns. Thick stone walls surrounded the manor house some were 20 feet thick. Most castles were designed to defend a location, so they were usually located at the highest point around so if there was a hill the castle went on top which made it so they could see any attackers from far away.

Siege weapons
Siege warfare tactics and weapons varied according to the role of defender or attacker. Siege weapons and warfare were a totally new form of warfare and weapons. Siege weapons like the trebuchets catapult weren’t exactly meant to be moved a lot. Siege weapons gave you advantages over your enemies.
