EDN 414 Integrating the Arts in Education

I'm Freddie the frog and this is my life story. I haven't always looked like this. So come along and let's learn about the life cycle of a frog.

I begin my life as an egg. This is called stage one. A female frog lays the eggs in a pond. The shell of my egg feels like jelly. Soon I will hatch and enter into stage two.

In stage two, I hatch from my egg. I look more like a fish than a frog in this stage. I have gills, which means I can swim and breathe underwater. Towards the end of this stage, I start to develop lungs and hind legs.

In stage three, I grow two front legs. My tail becomes shorter and I rely less on my tail for food and nutrients. I hop out of the water onto dry land.

In the final stage, my tail has disappeared. I start to eat insects instead of plants from the water. It takes 2-4 years for me to grow into a full adult.
There are many different types of frogs. All frogs are amphibians and live in and around trees. Some frogs can be poisonous while others are completely harmless. I am a regular tree frog, which means I am not poisonous.
Green tree frogs eat live insects. These include, crickets, earthworms, and wax worms. Green tree frogs also are attracted to lights. That's why you can see me outside on your lights at night.
My friends and I like to play a game called camouflage. This is where we hide and blend into our surroundings. This is how we protect ourselves from predators in the wild.
