When used for sport there are multiple different regulations you have to follow to make sure the donkey stays safe and healthy.
Transport
Circulation: The donkey's circulatory system has a four-chambered heart. Its purpose is to circulate blood throughout the body to deliver oxygen and nutrients.
Absorption: Donkeys are able to absorb high in fiber foods and use the organic acid for energy. Their diet keeps their digestive system right on track.
Nutrition
Donkeys eat lots of different things! They eat straw, hay, grass, bread, carrots, apples, pears, and much more.

Excretion
Donkeys have a well developed digestive system.
Once their food is in their bellies it will go through something called function caecum. The functional caecm is at the end of the digestive system and is responsible for more breaking down of nutrients through bacterial fermentation.
