Chapter I

The Rise of Germany

To understand the steps to World War 1, we need to go back to the 1871. The Year 1871 saw the creation of the German Empire, previously Germany was made up of lots of small states. The most important, Prussia, united all northern states, to create the Northern German Confederation.

Then, the Northern German Confederation invaded the South, supported by France. So after the defeat of the South, Germany invaded Alsace and Moselle. Its economy was rapidly growing, and had a blood thirsty military.

Chapter II

The First Balkan War

In the early 1900s, Italy, AustroHungary and Germany created the Triple Alliance.

In 1912, the First Balkan War Happens against the Ottoman Empire. All of the countries that were against the Empire were all at once annexed by it. They were all Christian and underneath them there was a large Hated Islamic Empire. They were ready to squeeze the Ottomans out of Europe. The Kingdoms of Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Greece all Pushed the Ottomans out of Europe.

In 1912, Albania became independent

Chapter III

The Second Balkan War

Bulgaria had received lots of land, but it still had one problem. A region half in Greece and half in Serbia, Macedonia. was full of Bulgaria's People.

Bulgaria Invaded Greece and Serbia, beginning the Second Balkan War. They Failed and lost.

Chapter IV

The Road to the the Great War (WW1)

One of the previously mentioned Kingdoms, Serbia had a problem like Bulgaria's. AustroHungary had a Region called Bosnia, full of Serbia's People. In 1914, the Archduke of AutroHungary visits Serbia. A Serbian Nationalist known as Gavrilo Princip murdered the Archduke of AustroHungary, Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

Little did Gavrilo Princip know that he was responsible for a war that would result in the death of 16 Million people.

So. AustroHungary declared War on Serbia. Then, the Russian Empire backed Serbia. Germany backed AustroHungary. France and Britian both backed Russia and Serbia,

Chapter V

German Plan

Germany had a plan to invade Russia and France. It knows that Russia is so big it will take it a while to get ready for war.

First, it will defeat France, then Defeat Russia.
