Chapter I
The Break of Francia
In reality, Germany wasn't made in 1871, it has a much longer history. In the 400s, the Kingdom of Francia was made. France comes from it. This kingdom took most of Eastern Europe, and became the Frankish Empire.
Francia existed for 362 years, but in 843, it collapsed into West Francia (France), Middle Francia (Lotharingia) (only lasted a few years), and finally East Francia (Germany).
Chapter II
(The Rise of the Holy Roman Empire)
East Francia took over some places, including a large part of Lotharingia. The rest was taken by West Francia.
East Francia became the Kingdom of Germany for a few years until The King Otto took Rome and called themselves the Holy Roman Empire.
But they were not Holy or Roman, or an Empire.
Chapter III
The Weirdest Country in
the world!
The Holy Roman Empire was the weirdest country ever.
It had hundreds of countries inside it! And the fact that its name is ironic. Around the 1600s, its border became really strange.
Chapter IV
The Rise of Prussia
In the mid 1500s, a colony of Poland, Prussia, was made. In the 1600s, it made an alliance with Brandenberg. After Brandenberg became a part of Prussia, but it was not connected to the country, until Prussia took a part of Poland to get to it. It took the Holy Roman Empire and made it into the nation called
"The Confederation of the Rhine". I guess it still had kingdoms in it, but after the Napoleonic wars it was destroyed and let the states become independent.
Chapter V
The German Confederation
Right where we are now (1815), the German language exists and is huge, but for now there wasn't an actual country called Germany.
The German Confederation was a pack of German States. Some states had a part in it and a part outside of it.
Chapter VI
The Rise of the German Empire
In 1871, Prussia took all northern states to make the Northern German Confederation, which was actually now a country not a Union.
The South, supported by France, lost and Germany annexed the south, making the Unification of Germany. It then became the German Empire. It took Alsace and Moselle from France. Its economy was growing greatly, and it had a very good military.
