"Breathing Through Baseball"

This is a story about a boy trying to balance the effects of asthma and playing baseball. Asthma is a condition that affects the Respiratory System. I chose to write about asthma because most of the people in my family, including myself, have dealt with asthma.

Benny Platt loved to play baseball for his school, Richmont High School. He'd been playing his whole life. Not only that, but he was good. He was one of the best players and wanted to be a pro player someday. That all changed in his senior year though.

I CAN'T BREATHE!

While Benny was playing Baseball one day, he fell to the ground because he couldn't breathe.

Benny decided to go to the

Doctor to find out what was wrong.

He found out that he has Asthma!

The Doctor explained to Benny that Asthma is a condition that affects his Respiratory System. The bronchi in his lungs spasm, causing him to struggle with breathing.

The Doctor gave him an inhaler. If he ever has trouble breathing, he can use it to help him.

As Benny was walking home, he felt better about playing. He was excited to get back to the team so he could keep on playing with everyone and get a scholarship to a good school.

I CAN'T BREATHE!

Except, he fell again during practice because he couldn't breathe.

He started heading back to the

dugout so he could grab his inhaler.
