EDN 414: Storytelling and drama integration activity.

On the way to school, I sat down next to my friend Ted on the bus.
"Hi, Ted!" I said with great anticipation. I cannot wait to get to school today!
"Why?" said Ted.
"Because it's Zoo Day" I replied!

When we got to school, our teacher, Mrs. Hicks was waiting for us. She was eager to get started with the instructions about the field trip.
"Good Morning Class!" said Mrs. Hicks.
"Good Morning Mrs. Hicks!" said the whole second grade class loudly.

"Today we are going to the Zoo" said Mrs Hicks.
I have a few rules that you need to follow:
- Stay in your seat on the bus.
- No running at the Zoo.
- Keep your hands to yourself.
Now, who is ready for the Zoo and to learn about the animals?" said Mrs. Hicks cheerfully.
"We are!" shouted her second grade class with their hands in the air.

When we got to the zoo we were greeted by the Zoo Keeper, James.
"Hello everyone! My name is James and I am the Zoo Keeper. I make sure that the animals are fed and have a place to play and sleep."
"Who is ready to see the animals?" said James joyfully.
"I am!" "I am!" everyone shouted readily.

The outdoor dry weather enclosure is the first place we came too.
"What is that?" I said to Ted.
Ted exclaimed, "that's an elephant!"
Then suddenly, a lady wearing another white lab coat appeared. "This is Lady the elephant and she weighs 200 pounds!" said Kelly.
"Hello everyone, I am Kelly the Veterinarian and I take care of the medical needs of the animals."
"Lady came here three years ago. She drinks lots of water and eats trees, grass and plants" said Kelly

Next, we came to the wet tropical climate enclosure.
Mrs. Hicks asked "Who knows what animal this is?"
There was silence.
James announces energetically "this is a Hippopotamus."
Hippopotami use the water to cool off in, like a swimming pool. They eat berries and grass primarily.
"Who can guess what animal we are seeing next?" asked James.
"Wow, it's cold in here" Ted and I said together.
Suddenly, a student yelled "LOOK OUT!" A polar bear appeared through the water!
James said proudly "this is Chance! Chance lives in the cold arctic environment where, like other animals in the wild, he eats smaller animals that live in the water.
Polar bears can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and can be more than 10 feet long!"
"Okay class, let's keep moving to see other animals!" said Mrs. Hicks.

We went to another water enclosure and the whole class was confused!
"Is there anything in there?" asked Mrs. Hicks.
We all looked closely at the glass.
"Now students, there is nothing to be scared of because.., and without finishing her statement, Kelly was interrupted by a scream from another student.
"A SHARK!" shouted a girl next to the glass.
"It's okay students!" said Kelly, James and Mrs. Hicks.
This shark is just swimming around.
