Once upon a time there was a beautiful family who loved spending time together. They would always make crafts, go to the park, and bake cookies together.

One afternoon, they were bored and had nothing to do. Until Adrian said.. 

"Can we bake some cookies today? It has been a while since we've made some."

"That sounds like a great idea! Perfect to eat with this cold weather."

"Mom, dad.. so today in class Ms. Martinez talked a bit about thermal energy it seemed interesting but I did not quite understand how it works. By any chance do you know what thermal energy is?" 

"It is your lucky day Adrian! Baking cookies is an example of the heat that is transferred through the heat of the pan to the cookies.

"MOm, so the way the cookies cook is due to the heat from the oven?"

"Yes, but the heat does not go directly from the oven. It first heats up the metal and from the metal pan the heat transfers to the cookies causing them to cook. This is called Conduction. 

"While we wait for the cookies to cook let me tell you about another type of thermal energy."

"Do you remember when we went to the park that hot sunny day and you burned yourself when sitting on the metal bench...? Well that heat was caused by radiation given by the sun."
