I dedicate this book to Reid, Blake and Emma for being my life's inspiration.

One day on her way to school, Emma decided she wanted to run away. She did not want to go to school this day and she knew she had chores to do when she got home from school.

Where could Emma go? There are so many places she could go, but where? Emma has always enjoyed staring at the Moon.
The moon, sounds like the perfect
place to runaway to.

The moon's surface is rocky.
Most of the moon's surface is
covered with craters, rocks and dust.
Craters are holes or pits on the surface formed when chunks of space rock crash into the moon.

The moon has no
atmosphere. Earth has a layer of
gas surrounding it to protect it from incoming meteoroids, the moon does not have this protection. Because there is no atmosphere, the moon has extreme temperatures.
An atmosphere acts like a
blanket around a planet. At night,
it holds in some of the heat from the
sun. On the moon, nearly all the energy
from the sun is reflected back to space. Temperatures during the day can be as high as 253 degrees F,
at night -387 degrees F.

Maybe living on the moon is not such a good idea.
Where else could I go?
Oh! Maybe the sun?
That sounds like a good place to live.

The sun, is a star at the center of our solar system. The sun, like all stars, is a glowing
ball of gas. Because the sun is made up of gas,
it has a very thick atmosphere. The majority of
the gas that makes up the sun is hydrogen. The gases on the sun are tightly packed together, making it very dense, which is why the sun has a very strong gravity.

Different parts of the sun has different temperatures. The surface is one of the coolest areas at 10,000 degrees F. The average temperature at the center of the sun is
27,000,000 degrees F.
