In Science Class last week, we looked at insulation, particularly which methods were the most effective for insulation. Alongside this, we made a comic-book style imaginative story to go with our experiment.

Here are some of the materials and instruments we used while carrying out our experiment.

We used a variety of objects for insulation including different cloths and towels. We also used a beaker, thermometer, rubber bands and tinfoil.

This is a photo of our beaker after we prepared it for insulation. We then proceeded to add hot water into the beaker and recorded the temperature at a number of time intervals to see how fast the temperature was dropping. We also added our story's character to the beaker.

We made a story to go with our experiment. This made it easier to understand the experiment itself.

When we finished the experiment, we completed an evaluation sheet of the observations we made and the things we learned. We discovered that our method of insulation proved quite efficient.

My main learning from this activity was that active learning is vital when learning about different science concepts. Carrying out experiments is the most interesting and engaging way to do this.
