
Once upon a time in East India in mid 1700s, The British took over India and took there stuff and used them for power and treated them badly. The people that tried to stop them are the Indian troops called Sepoys and they're in the British East India Company. They were mistreated with weapons.

In May 1857, soldiers in the army of the British East India Company decided to fight against the British.There were a lot of reasons why they wanted to fight back. The Sepoys were mad because they passed a law that allows widows to remarry and allow the people to travel across the sea but more importantly they went against Indian beliefs.



Then the Sepoy Rebellion ended and brought big changes in the British policy. In 1859 the parliament ended the rule of the East India Company and put India directly under the British crown. The Rebellion lead to the growth of a national movement. Indian nationalism lead to India's First War of Independence.

All though the Sepoys had a bad start and were treated unfairly, they fought back and lead Indians to they first War of Independents. Then they ended up changing the British policy.
