It was a freezing morning, just like any other, during the winter. Disney woke up very early in the morning; it was his 9th birthday. Disney’s cyborg named Craig was there waiting to lead him to the manor party hall. A cyborg can be simple described as a cybernetic entity containing both technological and biological constituents.

Holding a party in the manor hall was Atlanta's culture. As the family culture all family parties were celebrated in the hall.  It was a time to set everything in place for the party. His dad, Mr. Banks invited some of his friends to attend his eldest son's birthday.

Enlightenment is simple the belief in sovereignty of reason and insistence on evidence based on scientific discoveries.

You people have lost the human touch, technology has misled you, During our time, people met and celebrated birthdays together, but you, my children, watch each other on TV,

Grandma, this is the era of enlightenment, the millennial generation needs things done according to technocratic progress and innovations

Grandma could not help but take a walk down memory lane as she recalled how fast life had changed. First her generation, her sons and now the grandchildren seemed absorbed in a  world of their own. Gifts time and the guests ordered items from Amazon and E-bay as this was the norm for this family and friends.  Disney loved a hybrid iPod from one of Mr. Banks' work colleagues. The particular gadget could connect to the phones and computers in the family within a fraction a second. According to the grandmother, it was another reason for her children and grandchildren to lose the human touch. Deliberate ignorance did not allow the family members to pay attention to her worries. Therefore, her pieces of advice got disregarded because her views seemed outdated. It was contributed by the fact that she was from another generation from her children

The next school day, Disney's birthday was the talk of the school. Despite his mother disagreeing with him, being a proud boy, Disney took his iPod to school. The entire class was mesmerized and excited about the gadget. Unlike Disney’s, Patience who also had her birthday, was not talked about in the school. She brought a cake to share it with her classmates. Her friends celebrated and felt the birthday; even the class teacher praised her for sharing it with her friends. She went ahead to explain to the rest of the class that it was good for one to share their happiness with others.

"Technological determinism is ruining our society," said Mrs. Ted, the class teacher to one of the teachers. The term in based on a viewpoint that claims that the technology in a society influences its cultural ideals and social construction.

“Why is that?” asked the teacher. “I was comparing how Disney and Patience shared their birthdays with their classmates. I was so puzzled by how technology has influenced the values and culture of the society," said Mrs. Ted.

“That is very true! technological determinism does influence the social structure and cultural values,” replied the teacher.

After school, Disney went home upset because Patience was showered with praises by the teacher. He reported it to his grandmother, who took the advantage to advise him about technology and the effects on the lives of people. He found it hard to make his grandmother understand, so he approached his father. Mr. Banks dismissed the events of the day on grounds of jealousy and lack of enlightenment on the school part. The fathers response comforted Disney because he was contented with the life they lived. Patience, on the other hand, went home very happy.

Technology is ruining you.

At home Patince asked her mother how one could possibly celebrate a birthday without sharing a cake with others.  The mother did not have a valid explanation for such an occurrence. She explained that it was because others had more money to buy more things that are expensive. She went to bed that day with many thoughts bothering her. The following day, being a Saturday, one of the classmates named Jack visited. They decided to visit Disney's home since it was a weekend, and there was not much to do at Patience’s home. On arrival, the artificially intelligent gate amazed them.
