Soup kitchens had started in America during 1929. What was a soup Kitchen? A soup kitchen was places were hungry people would go and get served a free meal. The kind of food was normally vegetable soup and bread.

Many people who unemployed even workers who were in a single industry. Unemployment rose 25%. It was at it's highest during this period of time. There was about 15 millions americans unemployed. The employment rate didn't drop until the country entered the World War ll. My families because of them being employed they couldn't buy food for their families.

Bonus Army

What was the Bonus Army? The Bonus Army was a group of 43,000 demonstrators/17,00 U.S World War 1 veterans. They gathered in Washington D.C. They all wanted their cash for serving in the World. They wanted it so badly because of the great depression, they had no money. They even camped outside of the whit house until Attorney General Mitchell ordered the evacuation of the veterans.

Riding the Rails

What is riding the rails? Many people were forced off farms. They heard about jobs miles away and would get there hopping in trains. Four million people rode the rails.
