Amethyst just moved to a new school. She is very nervous to go. Her mother, Citrine, packs Amethyst’s bags and lunch. She is ready for her first day of middle school.

Amethyst gets to her first class. A teacher introduces Amethyst to the class.

During class, there is a group project. Everyone picks partners. No one wanted to be Amethyst’s partner, so she works alone.

It’s time for lunch. Amethyst goes to get her lunch box. She sits down at a table. No one sits with her. Amethyst starts eating her strawberries.

Amethyst notices the girls at the next table laughing at her. She tells the lunch lady and nothing is done. She takes her lunch and goes to the bathroom to eat.

After she ate all her food, she had to go to the gym room. Today, they are playing soccer. There are two team leaders. Amethyst waits to get called on, but she never gets picked.

It’s the end of the day. Time to go home.

Amethyst gets on her bus. She walks down the aisle and sees a girl sitting alone in a seat. Amethyst walks by and sits in a seat by herself and goes home.

When Amethyst gets home, she sees her mom working in the garden. Her mother, Citrine, asks her how her first day was. She said, “good,” and walked away starting to cry.

Amethyst goes to bed until the next day.

Amethyst walks slowly to her class. She sits down and daydreams while her teacher talks. Still, no one wants to work with her.  

Amethyst eats her lunch in the bathroom again.

No one picks her for soccer.
