The public water utility (PWU) is well developed and organized activity in Crowston. It is established by the municipality and controlled by "WACO". WACO is company, property of the municipality.

Here is our organizational structure of the PWU.

The main service of the public water utility is to

provide water for every citizen.

Its responsibilities include monitoring the quality of the water supply, establishing and maintaining and administrative record keeping system, developing an emergency plan.

PWU(Public Water Utility)'s has different type sources of incomes. Money are being received by charging the citizens. Governmental sponsorships are playing an important role in the PWU budget. Crowston is also famous for selling excessive water to other municipalities in other towns.

As we said in our previous presentation, PWU belongs to the municipality - not to private companies. As a result the citizens get significantly lower prices to pay for.

I live in Crowston and I pay 2,10leva per cubic litre. I think it is a really good and affordable.

However, if the amount of water in the water sources gets lower, the price is raising up in per cent.

PWU has taken measures towards vulnerable groups of people. Every person, registered as one of them, has discount on water bills. The discount varies from 30% to 70% depending on a lot of factors.

What about our sources of water? Crowston uses a lot of reservoirs in Bulgaria, such as 'Luda Yana','Asenovec','Qstrebino','Dyakovo'.

There are also plenty of subterranean waters.
