Everyone loves eating pancakes or french fries but what does your body do with all that food?

The first step of digesting something is to chew it up until you are ready to swallow it. chewing is mechanical breakdown and allows your saliva to start breaking food down into stuff your body can use which is called chemical breakdown.

The next part for digestion is when you swallow there is a little flap in the back of your throat that keeps food from going down your wind pipe. The flap is called the pharynx

After food has passed the pharynx it goes into a long tube called the esophagus. It pushes the food down into the stomach using propulsion.

The stomach holds food and breaks it down using acid; another example of chemical breakdown.

The small intestine moves the chewed up food slowly, using propulsion, so it can digest it and absorb all the nutrients.

once the food has gone through all those other organs it reaches the large intestine where it absorbs most of the water and vitamins then sends the leftovers to the rectum so on your next adventure to the toilet it can be released

everything that was absorbed in the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine goes into your blood stream and get sent to your liver where it is filtered and detoxified so the nutrients can be distributed!
