Grenville rose in Parliament to
offer the fifty-five resolutions of
his Stamp Bill. A motion was
offered to first read petitions
from the Virginia colony and
others was denied.

more effectual, in his Majesty's
dominions in America, an act
passed in this present session of
parliament, intituled, An act for
punishing mutiny and desertion,
and for the better payment of
the army and their quarters.



AN ACT for granting certain duties in
the British colonies and plantations in
America for allowing a drawback of the
duties of customs upon the exportation
from this kingdom, of coffee and cocoa
nuts of the produce of the said colonies
or plantations for discontinuing the
drawbacks payable on china earthen
ware exported to America



The Boston Massacre was a street fight
that occurred on March 5, 1770,
between a "patriot" mob, throwing
snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a
squad of British soldiers.



On the evening of December 16, 1773, a
group of men calling themselves the "Sons of
Liberty" went to the Boston Harbor. The men
were dressed as Mohawk Indians. They
boarded three British ships, the Beaver, the
Eleanor and the Dartmouth, and dumped
forty-five tons of tea into the Boston Harbor.



The government spent immense sums
of money on troops and equipment in
an attempt to subjugate
Massachusetts. British merchants had
lost huge sums of money on looted,
spoiled, and destroyed goods shipped
to the colonies.






The Articles of Confederation was the first
constitution of the United States of America
and specified how the national government
was to operate. The Second Continental
Congress appointed a committee to draft the
Articles in June 1776 and sent the draft to the
states for ratification in November 1777.
