The Start of the Civil War

The Beginning of the Civil War
In 1860, when Abraham was elected for president, it caused the southern states to secede because of their disbelief in Lincoln, and later in 1861, the Confederacy fired on Fort Sumter when Lincoln refused to supply them with war necessities from the North. The attack on Fort Sumter was the first event that triggered the start of the Civil War.

The Election of 1860
In the late fall of 1860, on November 6th, Abraham Lincoln was elected to be the 16th president of the United States of America. The election was held in Chicago Illinois.

The election of Abraham Lincoln was a big decision for people to make, considering it might trigger the end of slavery in America. Although that was what most people wanted, many in the South disagreed with Lincoln's opinions. With Lincoln being president, it caused greatness, such as the end of slavery, and states were improved. This event also caused a great outbreak in the U.S, causing some southern states of America to succeed.

This event impacted others, because when Lincoln was elected, that gave the Southern states the “okay” to secede, tearing states, and families apart. There were also the events and battles that happened when the Confederacy formed, causing the Civil War.
What was the Impact?

The Secession of the Southern States
The Secession of the Southern States, was an event that happened from 1861-1865, that was caused after the election of Abraham Lincoln, when 11 states from the Southern region of America decided to form their own Confederacy.

The Southern States seceded because when Lincoln was elected, that meant that slavery would be ended in every state, and the south did not agree with that, as well as many of Lincolns other, “opinions”. This event was important to the Civil War, because once the southern states seceded, they wanted weapons from the North, and many other war-like necessities. When Lincoln refused, the Confederates attacked Fort Sumter, causing the start of the Civil War.

The main conflict in this event, was slavery, because the North wanted to abolish it, while the South wanted to keep it. This issue soon caused the beginning of the Civil War. The main opposed in the secession of the southern states, was the Northern states, or the Union. They refused to supply the new region with war supplies, and they won the election.

The Attack on Fort Sumter, was an event that triggered the start of the Civil War between the Northern and Southern states. Pierre G.T. Beauregard, and Robert Anderson played a big role in the attack on Fort Sumter, on April 12th, to April 13th, 1861.
The Attack on Fort Sumter

This event took place to begin with, because after Lincoln was elected, that gave the “okay” for the southern states to secede. But, they wanted war supplies, specifically, many, many, weapons. But Lincoln refused. So the Confederates attacked Fort Sumter, causing many more battles to come in the future between the two regions. This certain event, triggered the start of the Civil War.

The main conflict during the attack was the opposing side, the Confederacy, because they forced Fort Sumter to surrender.
