We would like to dedicate this book to all the children who doubt themselves.
Just like Stan, you CAN!!!
We hope you enjoy.

This is Stan
Who has a peculiar Nan.
He always says "I just can't do it!"
His Nan always says "there's nothing to it."
Stan tries and tries all day long,
even though he can get it wrong.

And this is Stan's Nan
who always says "you can!"
With her little beady eyes
and her words that are wise.
"You just have to try and try again
just like your uncle Ken."

I just can't do it!!
One day Stan had homework with a new math rule.
He snarled and he thought this wasn't very cool.
Stan looked and he looked
in his big homework book.
He told his Nan "I just can't do it!"
"Of course you can, there's nothing to it."

Stan looked at his Nan and thought with a sigh,
what does my Nan know? The silly old pie.
Stan tried and he tried until his eyes wept
and all of a sudden he got it correct!
He was so happy. His wise Nan was right.
He shouted to tell, she was full of delight.

In school Stan was armed and ready for sums.
With my new rule, I’ll help all my chums!
But to his dismay, his mind had gone blank.
He felt like a fool and his little heart sank.
What had gone wrong, he couldn't quite think
so he got very cross and he kicked up a stink!
“I just can’t do it!” frustrated Stan shouted.
The teacher replied, “your brains not to be doubted".
He tried it again as Nan had suggested.
“Eureka, I’ve got it! My brain has been tested".
Stan was so happy. His wise Nan was right.
When he got home, she’d be full of delight!

I just cant do it!!!

On the playground at lunch, the kids all played chase,
But Stan had a grumpy old look on his face.
“Come and join in” a sweet girl insisted.
“I just can’t do it!” he said, his face twisted.
“I always get caught and that’s just no fun".
But to his amazement he tried, and he WON!!

I just cant do it!!

“Well-done” said the sweet girl, “Lucy’s my name”.
“You were incredibly good at that game”.
"Let’s play another and soon you will see,
the more that you try, the better you’ll be".
Stan was so happy. His wise Nan was right.
When he got home, she’d be full of delight!

Lunchtime had gone, it was time for P.E.
"I just can't do it! My knee, don't you see?"
Mr Bodge said "Now Stan you must try,
the last time you played you kicked it so high".
Stan thought of his Nan and her wise old words.
I'll kick it so high; it will fly with the birds!
