This is for my cousin who is a volleyball player.

There was a girl named Jessica and she lived in Kentucky with her Mom, Dad, and Brother.

Jessica loved to play volleyball, but she was not the best on the team. Actually she was not very good at all.

Everyone at school and on her team would make fun of her because she spent a lot of the games sitting on the bench.

One day Jessica was at a game and she had been sitting on the bench for a while. All of the sudden she heard her coach yell "Jessica I need you to go in." Jessica was shocked at what she was hearing, but quickly got up from the bench and ran into the game.

Jessica was so nervous. Her legs were shaking and her heart was pounding. She did not want to let anyone down.

The other team served the ball and landed straight in front of Jessica. Jessica reached out for the ball, but it was too late. The ball hit the ground and she could hear the other team cheering.

This continued for the next three serves. The team would serve right to Jessica and she would miss the ball. Eventually coach took Jessica out of the game and she returned to the bench.

After the game was over Jessica was gathering her things, when one of her teammates named Emma came over to her and said, " You are the reason we lost the game today. You need to quit the team because you are not good at all!"

Jessica started to cry in the car on the way home. When she got home she ran to her room and cried some more. A couple of minutes passed and she heard a knock on her door.

Jessica walked to the door and opened it up to see her mom eagerly waiting to enter the room. Her mom came in and went to sit on Jessica's bed.

Jessica followed her mom and looked at her with eyes full of tears and said, " Mom why am I so bad No one wants me on the team! Maybe I should quit!"

Jessica's mom responded saying, " Jessica if you want to quit you can, but I don't think that is what you really want to do. You love to play volleyball and I think that with some extra practice you can show everyone how good you are. I believe in you."
