Samuel Moree Walton (March 29, 1918-April 5, 1992) was an American businessman and entrepreneur best known for founding the retailers Walmart and Sam´´´´´´´´¨¨¨´´´´´´s Club. Wall-Mart Stores Inc. grew to the world´´s largest corporation by revenue as well as the biggest private employer in the world. For a period of time, Walton was the richest man in America.

On July 2, 1962, Walton opened the first Walmart Discount City store at 719 W. Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas.

The company operates under the name Walmart in the United States and Canada, as Walmart de México y Centroamérica in Mexico and Central America, as Asda in the UK, as the Seiyu Group in Japan, and as Best Price in India. It was holly owned operations in Argentina, Chile, Canada and South Africa.
