There once was a juggler named Pier who only had one arm. Pier was not a very good juggler but the kids in the park loved seeing him try to juggle. One day a young boy walked up to Pier and asked him “Hello Mr. Juggler, why do you juggle if you only have one arm?” The boy looked intrigued. Pier smiled and looked down at the boy and said “I love to juggle to make people happy.”

After a long day of juggling in the park, Pier walked home. He saw a strange house on the corner that looked abandoned. He decided to investigate. He used his one tired arm to push the door open. Inside, he saw some stairs. He decided to climb the stairs up to the attic. Once inside, he found a strange old chest.

The chest was covered in spiderwebs and dust. It has looked like it has been years since anyone has touched it. He decided to open the chest with his one arm. He felt nervous to open it, but he continued. Inside the chest was a prosthetic arm. Pier instantly got excited and started jumping for joy. He decided to try on the prosthetic arm and he realized it fit him perfectly. He thought to himself “This arm was meant to be mine!”

After Pier left the old house he ran to his home to tell his wife Penelope what he had found. Both Pier and Penelope jumped for joy with their arms in the air. Penelope then looked to Pier and told him “with this arm you can be an even better juggler.”

Pier smiled, ran to his chest and grabbed for his bowling pins. He grabbed all three and threw them in the air. This time not one hit the ground but rather he was juggling them with a smile on his face.
The next day, Pier couldn’t wait to show the people in the park his new arm and his new juggling skills. He thought he would surprise everyone so he hid the new arm behind his back. He started juggling with one pin, then another. As the crowd grew bigger and bigger, he pulled his new arm from around his back and started juggling three pins! The crowd cheered!
Pier felt so happy and accomplished with what he had just done at the park. He has never seen a crowd so big before. After talking with people he saw a familiar face in the crowd. It was the little boy who had asked him why he liked to juggle. The little boy was so happy to see that he had two arms and was able to juggle for everyone at the park. The little boy said to Pier “Now I understand why juggling makes you so happy, because it makes all of us happy.”
