When things began, there were only two kingdoms. Plants and animals. When the microscope was introduced, it led to the discovery of new organisms. The new system includes SIX KINGDOMS.

PLANTS

Plants are multicellular and contain multiple cells.

There are over 250,000 species making the plant kingdom the 2nd largest.

Plants are autotrophs, which means they produce their own food.

Without plants, there would be no world! Plants feed almost all heterotrophs on Earth!

ANIMALS

The animal kingdom is of course the biggest with over 1 million species!

All different types of animals have many cells and are also heterotrophs (they eat plants and animals).

The animal kingdom is one of the most diverse environments in the entire world!
