When Maria was ten years old, her family took her to a concert. 

The music was so beautiful, but she didn't know any of the instruments. She asked her parents and they told her there were violins, cymbals, trumpets, french horns, flutes, cellos and a piano. 

Maria thought they all sounded beautiful together, but she had her eye on the piano and the wonderful sound it made.

At that moment, Maria knew what she wanted to do when she grew up. She wanted to play the piano!!!! It was all she could think about!

She dreamed of playing a grand piano in a big, beautiful concert hall.  

But, how could she? She had never played the piano before and didn't know how. She just knew it is what she LOVED!!! 

Her parents told her that she would have to practice and scheduled lessons for her to take from Emily, her piano teacher. 

Maria had to read books about the piano and learn about musical notes and the piano keys.
