Cognitive and Language Development Milestones Picture Book

It is important for Alexis to meet all the requirements for her Developmental Milestones. Her teacher has identified four milestones each from her language and cognitive development that she can incoperate in daily activites.




Cognitive Milestones
1. Sorting shapes and colors
2. Plays make-believe games
3. Counts 10 or more objects (CDC, 2018).
4. Recognizes every thing in their environment


Language Milestones
1. Follows simple instructions
2. Can name body parts
3. Carries on 2 sentence conversations
4. Can say first and last name (CDC, 2018).



7:45 a.m. - Breakfast with teacher and classmates
Alexis followed simple instructions by eating breakfast. The teacher explained the instructions for Alexis. She passed out 1 fruit, 1 grain, and milk to her classmates before sitting down.
Milestone practiced: followed simple instructions.
8:15 a.m. - Morning exercises
Alexis and her classmates dancing and singing to "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" song and naming each body part as they exercise.
Milestone practiced: Naming body parts



8:45 a.m. - Circletime and Jobs
To start the day, the teacher did roll call. Alexis and the students recognized their names while speaking along with the students choosing jobs for the day.
Milestone practiced: Can say first and last name.


9:05 a.m. - Center Playtime
During this time, Alexis begins to show interest in painting and asks her teacher, "What color should I paint the duck?" The teacher responds, "Why yellow would be nice, like the duck from your book!"
Milestone practiced: Carries a two-sentence conversation.

10:00 a.m. - Imaginary role play
Alexis decides to dress up as her favorite chef and engages with the other children to cook them a fantastic meal at her pretend restaurant.
Milestone practiced: Plays make-believe games.



11:00 a.m. - Storytime
The teacher reads a storytime book about the three bears and then asks Alexis what her favorite part was while asking questions to keep the conversation going within the class.
Milestone practiced: Carries on a two-sentence conversation.
