
1st Amendment

Freedom of Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition, and Speech. Without these rights you could be punished for expressing yourself and opinions.
2nd Amendment

The right to carry a weapon. This amendment is important so that people can protect themselves.
3rd Amendment

The people will not have to quarter/allow soldiers to stay in their homes. This amendment is important so that only the home owners control who lives in their home.
4th Amendment

Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. This amendment is important because it allows you to have Privacy.
5th Amendment


All citizens must be treated with fair treatment even when accused this is known as due process. Some one cannot be accused of the same crime more than once and have the right to remain silent to prevent self-incrimination. This Amendment is important because without it criminals or accused persons may treated harshly or punished for something multiple times.
6th Amendment

Citizens have the right to a speedy trial, right to a lawyer, and to be informed of the crimes they are being accused with. This is important because not everyone can afford someone to defend them, and people may wait years for a trial on their case.
7th Amendment

Civil cases have a right to a jury if they amount to more than $20. This is important because it shows that cases between people are just as important as criminal cases.
8th Amendment

No excessive bail or cruel punishment. This amendment is important because without it crimes such as shoplifting a cheap purse could be paired with a bail of $100,000.
9th Amendment

The peoples rights go beyond the constitution. This amendment is important because simple things such as getting married could be declined because it was not defined in the constitution.

This Amendment presumes all powers not given to Federal government go to the State government. This amendment is important because without it there would be no one responsible for things such as school.
