Many centuries ago, there was a great war between the Persians and the Greeks.

Persia was very powerful, and wanted to take the greek city of Athens.

In the battle, on the one hand, were the greek soldiers, who waited at the top of the hill.
On the other hand, there were the persian soldiers who waited in the plain of Marathon below. They were five times more than the Greeks and anyone would have bet they’d win easily.

But what the Persians did not count on was that the Greeks had Pheidippides, a swift messenger who would run to see his neighbours the Spartans to ask for their help and get more soldiers.

Pheidippides ran for two days over the mountains.
When the messenger Pheidippides arrived in Sparta, he received bad news: the Spartans were not going to help them because their beliefs prohibited them from doing so until there was a full moon.

Pheidippides returned to Marathon alone.

The Greeks could not wait. They asked their gods for help and left their victory or fall in the hands of fate. At that time one of the most memorable battles in history began. The Persians had already won the battle.

But the Greeks were not afraid and fought with courage and hope. The Persians fought with the will of those who created the battle on their behalf and threw arrows at their enemies.
