Andy is five years old and this is the year he enters kindergarten. Each day he has a daily routine that he follows at home and school. 

During this year in Kindergarten Andy will reach cognitive milestones for development. The four we will discuss today are:

1. Self-Care

2. Problem solving through creativity

3. Understanding numbers and counting

4. Expression of feelings 

Andy will also learn language milestones such as:

1. Making sentences

2. Communicating with others

3. Having a longer attention span 

 4. Singing and identifying sounds of words

In the first part of Andy's day at home, he learns self-care development by getting ready by himself by brushing his teeth.

When Andy gets to school the first thing he does is hang his belongings in his cubby, marked with his name on it. Before lunch, he also learns to wash his hands before he eats or handles any food.

Andy is understanding the concept of time. He knows that during specific times of the day there are specific things he needs to do. At this age he knows morning, noon, and evening therefore, he knows what is expected of him every day, with guidance from his parents and teachers of course.

Andy gets to use his imagination while playing make-believe and dress-up. He learns how to problem solve using his imagination through play with his classmates.
