There was a dog named Doug who was born at the animal shelter. 

None of the other dogs liked Doug because he was a little different from all of them. He was missing one of his legs. 

Doug wanted nothing more than to be adopted and given a new, cozy home. He wanted a family to love and care for him. Doug watched as the other dogs were adopted. He realized no one wanted to adopt him.

The others dogs picked on Doug every day and made him feel worthless. Doug did not understand why no one wanted to adopt him and he felt hopeless. He was just as loving as any of the other dogs, so why couldn't people overlook his missing leg and love him for who he was?

One day, everything changed for Doug. A man entered the animal shelter and Doug immediately noticed something about him. He was missing a leg, just like him!

The man was looking to adopt a dog. He liked all of the dogs in the shelter, but when he saw Doug, he knew he wanted to adopt him. They had an instant connection. Doug and the man both knew they were meant to be best friends.

The man took Doug home and they were both so happy to have each other. Their entire lives, they were outcasts and people always viewed them differently. In reality, there was nothing wrong with them, and they knew that. They appreciated and loved the things that made them different.

Doug's lucky day was finding someone who saw how amazing he was, despite his differences.
