In San Diego,
California there are
environmental issues
that people can't
seem to figure out.

The population in San Diego is about 1,326,179
since 2011. Some of problems in the environment
include water supply issues and the amount of open
space available for transportation.

The amount of oxygen an average person breaths in a day is about
550 liters - 630 liters. A tree that has 100 leaves can produce about
500 mL of oxygen per hour. If a person inhales 53,000 mL (53L) of
oxygen per hour, divide that by 500 mL it equals 106 plants. It
would take about 140,574,974 plants to fulfill San Diego's entire
population.

Let's start off with the water supply. San Diego's
sewage system doesn't meet the federal
pollution rules. Where the water comes from and
how the water is used is an issue. So how do we
try and fix it?

We can do the basic things like use less water when
showering or brushing our teeth. And for the source of
the water supply, we can use what is within San Diego
and reuse it instead of going out and getting tons of
new water that is going to be wasted.

Trying to find space
for more
transportation is
another one of the
environmental
struggles in San
Diego. The roads keep
expanding into land
that is suppose to be
used for endangered
species. Yet getting
around the city is still
a challenge.

Now trying to fix that issue is going to be a much bigger
mission than conserving water. It's going to take in many
trials and errors before finding a great solution. A
possiblilty could be having residents live closer to one
another to make more room for things such as schools,
parks, and transportation.

There are many other environmental issues within San
Diego, California. But with the help of the community, the
future will be bright for those who live there, plan on
living there, and the people who are already there. It
won't just help the human race, but all the other living
things as well.
