Mexican-American Cesar Chavez (1927-1993) was born into a poverty stricken migrant family. From the age of eight years old he worked beneath the harsh sun with them under brutal conditions experiencing racism, poverty, and corrupt labor practices beneath unrelenting union bosses.

Cesar Chavez, later in his adult life, would be inspired by Father Donald McDonnell and Fred Ross to join in a country-wide Community Service Organization (CSO). Chavez would later devote his time into creating labor unions.

Cesar Chavez had many accomplishments in his lifetime. One of these accomplishments was protecting farm-workers by becoming a co-founder alongside Dolores Huerta in the United Farm Workers Association in 1962. This association also provided farm-workers with health benefits.

This Association required all workers to be treated fairly by taking required breaks, providing clean drinking water and stations for hand-washing, along with clothing to protect their employees from pesticides.
