This is the story of Dunn Castle, located beside a giant lake in the highlands of Scotland. The castle was once home to a King and Queen in the Middle Ages and has since belonged to their descendants.

Hi, I'm the King!!
Hi, I'm Queen Margaret!

The castle has around three hundred rooms, a giant staircase and a lot of dungeons where, many centuries ago, prisoners were held. It is dark and spooky in the wintertime and the gardens are beautiful in the summertime.

Scotland is known for its many myths, legends and tales of ghosts, phantoms and supernatural creatures, including kelpies and unicorns, and this castle is no exception.

The King and Queen who used to live in the castle, King Alistair and Queen Margaret, had two sons and a daughter. "I am so proud of our sons", said the King. The oldest son, James, was heir to the throne. Their daughter, Anne, used to say: "I love reading, hopping in the garden and painting! But I can never be Queen"

However, Anne, could not do many of the things her brothers could, especially James. She could not sign documents or travel abroad with her father. This made Anne feel sad and envious. "It is not fair that because I am a girl and I can never dream of being queen!", she once exclaimed to her mother.
