Benjamin Franklin was born in a small house on Milk Street in Boston, on January 6, 1706.

He learned to read at a very early age and had one year in grammar school and another under a private teacher, but his formal education ended at age 10.

In 1718-1723 Benjamin Franklin read several books and taught himself how to write effectively.

In 1726, Benjamin Franklin went to Philadelphia and opened a printing shop and expanded his business.


In 1752, Franklin conducted demonstrated that lighting was electricity through his famous kite experiment.



In the early 1760s Benjamin Franklin invented the musical instrument called the glass armonica.



He created the first published political cartoon in the U.S.
