Derrick Martell Rose was born on October 4,
1988 in Chicago, Illinois. Derrick was raised
by his mother Brenda, who was single at the
time of his birth. Derrick Rose never had a
close relationship with his father but he never
looked at it as a disadvantage for him, but for
his father who would soon learn that he would
be missing out on an amazing athletic talent.
When he lacked in a relationship with his
biological father he made up with his
grandmother, who took him in when he
needed help with his personal life.

Derrick's
actual
neighborhood

Derrick grew up in one of the toughest
neighborhoods on the south side. There was a
lot of gang violence in his city that he was
exposed to. The violence didn't excite Derrick
and he knew that he was a special basketball
player and choose to stay away from all of it.
It was very difficult to stay away but to help he
enrolled into the very notorious basketball
school, Simeon career academy which
produced players such as Benji Wilson, and
later Jabari Parker.

As Derrick grew older he realized how special
he could really be. College coaches all over the
nation wanted the #1 ranked point guard in
the nation, including John Calipari at Memphis.
Even with all of this to motivate him derrick
rose never did well in school, but as he
matured he saw his potential to play at a
division 1 college and knew without his grades
none of this was possible.

When his grades went up he signed to play
collegiate basketball at Memphis. While derrick
rose was at memphis they went to the Final Four
and advanced into the championship game but
their road stopped there. Derrick then entered the
NBA draft and was drafted first overall by the
Chicago Bulls. His dream had come true. Then it
got bad He was found guilty for invalidated SAT
scores. The Memphis tigers 2008 season was
erased from the schools records, and memories.
He was resented by his old teammates and even
himself.

But Derrick has then made an effort to teach how
bad his decison was. He has been very, very
sucessful in the NBA since college though. Every
year that he has been in the NBA has been very
successful. His first year he was was voted the
Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-
Rookie Team. In his second year in the league he
was selected as an NBA All-Star for the 2010 NBA
All-Star Game; and also asked to play for the FIBA
world team. and in 2011 he was named MVP of the
NBA, he was the youngest player to ever win, and
the second bull to ever win it.

Many people believe that he was a quick as a
cheetah. Trainers believe that he could break
the full court sprint time with a ball which is
under 4 seconds. Which would be just another
accomplishment in his very colored career.
